Storehouse

The Storehouse Project is a ministry to those in our community who are marginalised. We demonstrate our faith in action by sharing God`s love in practical ways.

Around 60 people visit Storehouse every Friday in the hall from 10 am `til midday. Many are experiencing problems associated with substance-misuse, poverty, homelessness, broken relationships, isolation and mental health issues. The `drop-in` session offers a warm, caring environment, `tea & toast`, and someone to talk to and to listen. During this time we can offer help with any immediate needs. We also have a supply of clothing and bedding, shower facilities and a washing machine.

More than anything, Storehouse is a place where people feel valued. Some may just meet friends and chat, while others appreciate someone spending time with them and listening.

Clients often express how difficult it is to access services alone and find the help they need. It makes a real difference when they are supported in taking steps to sort things out.

Ongoing support is available in the week, which may include visiting at home, in hospital or in prison; help with forms and phone calls; accompanying to appointments; assistance with issues of health/accommodation; and referral to organisations equipped to help with specific needs.

We really value the non-perishable food donated by church members and given away each week to those in need. If you would like to give food please leave your gifts in the `Storehouse` bin at the back of church - complete bags (with the handles double tied) or any items from the list.

A basic bag contains:

We also appreciate gifts of clothing and household items, or furniture - please keep an eye on the newsletter for what we need and when, as we have very limited storage.
