Every Sunday
Sunday morning services are designed for all ages.
Our services on Sunday are based around worship, teaching, and prayer ministry. We seek to worship God in a relevant and contemporary musical style, and we welcome the ministry of the Holy Spirit amongst us.
We long to worship God in spirit and truth as Jesus described it to the Samaritan woman in John's gospel. In one sense we won't fully get there until heaven, hence songs like "There must be more than this", but the wonderful thing about God is that there is always more in Him: more than we can ever imagine or hope for... "no eye has seen, no ear has heard, the things You store for those you love". This is not so we can have a 'bless-up' - it's so that we can be filled to give out to other people. As we come together as a congregation we need to cry out "more Lord".
As part of a worshipping community we seek to encourage the use of worship flags during services. We also seek to equip and enable others to bless the congregation at large by holding periodic workshops and dance events. Blessed with such a large space at St Alkmund's, worship flags as a specific dance style has evolved over the years. God often touches his people through the visual worship of others. There is nothing special about those who use flags - we are just ordinary people who hear the prompting of the Holy Spirit to worship God in this way.
Once a month we have a service where the whole church stays together (All age worship)... to worship, receive and grow together as a community. We believe that it is crucial for the generations to be together to learn from one another and to develop relationship together.
It is important to us that baptisms and dedications take place when the whole church family is together to make promises to support those involved, and so often this is part of our all age worship.
All age worship services generally last for about an hour, with tea, coffee and cake afterwards.
There is normally a Ministry team on duty at services. The team meet beforehand to pray and listen to God. They then share with the person leading the service everything that they believe God may be saying. All team members receive ongoing training and supervision. All prayer requests are treated as strictly confidential.
