Our aim is to seek to bring the healing love of Jesus and the word of God into people’s lives by building a worshipping, serving, community in the Handyside area of our parish.
Based on Matthew chapter 22 verses 37-39 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.....You shall love your neighbour as yourself."
Here are some key aspects of this ministry:
- Stuart and Linda Briggs have moved to live in the Handyside area in order to demonstrate their faith in action and spearhead this ministry.
- An intercession team meets fortnightly to worship God and to pray God’s kingdom into Handyside.
- Following the launch of the Jesus video project in this area in 2004, this project will now take the form of a give-away from house to house. A response card including a contact telephone number will be included with each individual video.
- Practical projects involving the youth at church – gardening, rubbish take away, decorating etc.
- Kids holiday clubs.
- An outdoor carol service was held on the green behind Rivermead flats in 2004.
- Linda has been holding children’s jewellery making classes from time to time in her home.
- Stuart and Linda have taken over the leadership of a small group in Handyside with a view to establishing a House/Cell church geared to the needs of the community in that area.
