Primary Schools

In Derby there are tens of thousands of young people in primary and secondary school, the vast majority of whom do not know Jesus. Our primary witness as a Church to these schools comes through teachers and our young people and children themselves, spread across the city`s schools and colleges. Please pray for them!

Alongside this we have a large number of congregation members who are active in Derby schools. Here are just some of the ways in which this happens:

Open the Book: Do you know that there are schools where Bible stories are never told? Open the Book teams seek to meet this challenge by going into school assemblies and telling Bible stories with drama, music, puppets and lots of interaction. The St Alkmund`s team has strong links with the local primary school and goes in every week. New members always welcome! Other congregation members work with other teams across the city.

dkfc: Derby Kids for Christ: Discovery Squad assembly teams work in a large number of city primary schools, taking one assembly a term into as many different primary schools as possible. Several members of our congregation are involved in these teams. dkfc also runs and supports lunch clubs in a number of primary schools.

Prayer: Various congregation members are also involved in prayer groups and prayer meetings for our local schools. To find out more information about this or any other aspect of schools work please contact Sharon Shipley.
