From the North M1/A38
Exit M1 at junction 28
Take A38 to Derby
After about 15 miles of dual carriageway you will approach the first large roundabout just before Derby. Do not turn left as signed to Derby, stay on the A38
Very soon after this roundabout you take the next exit on the left, signed for the A6
Turn left at the top of the slip road towards Derby city centre
Carry on along this road, towards Derby. This is Duffield Road
You will come to a small roundabout, with the Broadway pub on your right -
Turn right onto "Broadway" and carry on to the end of the road
At th e"T" junction turn left, towards Derby City Centre - this is the Kedleston Road
St Alkmund's is half a mile on the left just past ATS (which is on your right)
There is adequate parking in front of the church
From the A38 South
Do not follow the first signs to Derby City Centre, stay on the A38
Wait until you pass a MacDonalds and an Esso garage on the left before a roundabout. Cross over the roundabout, still on the A38, but take the first exit slip road signed Kedleston and Markeaton Park
At the top of the slip road turn right at the "T" junction traffic lights
St Alkmund's is half a mile on the left just past ATS (on your right)
There is adequate parking in front of the church
From the A52 East (Nottingham) or M1 South
Leave M1 at junction 25
Follow signs A52 Derby/Ashbourne (NOT City Centre) until you pick up signs for A6 Matlock
Take the A6 slip road and keep in the right hand lane
Follow A6 Matlock signs round the one-way system
Move into the left hand lane by the Jet garage on your right (marked on the road "Ked Road") following that lane through the traffic lights, almost straight on, signed to Allestree Park Farm (This is Kedleston Road)
St Alkmund's is a little way up on the right, just before ATS (on your left)
There is adequate parking in front of the church
Walking from Derby Railway Station (30 mins)
Take a Taxi to St Alkmunds Church, Kedleston Road... or if you are feeling brave:
From the main station entrance turn right and follow signs to city centre
Try to get yourself to the Assembly Rooms (a concert hall beside a largish square
Now follow signs to Derby cathedral along Iron Gate
As you pass the cathedral on your right hand side, keep walking out of Derby
Cross over the first traffic lights, and the next set (T-junction) turn left along King Street, following road signs to A6 and Matlock. You should pass the Flower Pot Pub.
Follow the A6 signs until you pass a JET petrol station
You should soon get to a junction of 5 roads with traffic lights. Kedleston Road is one of these.
Follow Kedleston Road for 1/4 mile, St Alkmunds is on the right hand side.
