Friendship Group

Our call is to serve the older person in whatever way we can with the resources we have. Our deepest longing is that they all have assurance of faith, that the life Jesus offers goes beyond the grave. We long that they should know the power of the Holy Spirit that will take them beyond any Sunday school teaching they might have had.

With such high expectations, in contrast with all the world expects from its older generation, we share a deepening love in what can be an increasingly lonely time. The Friendship Group becomes a `thin place` between this world and the next. It is an exciting place to be!

We meet on a Tuesday for lunch together, followed by times of fellowship - twice a month with a service, and other times sharing activities and fun. We aim every year to have a holiday away together; and we enjoy trips out during the year. Every other Thursday some of us meet together as a Small Group.

Ministry to the Older Person We have connections with various residential and nursing homes, and sheltered housing. Different teams visit the homes, leading services with residents. We believe that it is fitting in our present society to touch and implant some form of dignity into the hearts of these older people.
